Lewis County Group to Honor Law Enforcement Officers by Building Memorial
A Lewis County group is looking for a site to honor law enforcement officers across the state.
Contestants from the Miss West Virginia Law Enforcement pageant want to build a memorial in memory of officers statewide.
Pageant organizer Vicki Kerrigan presented their plans to the Lewis County Commission Monday to help find a site of the structure.
Commissioner Pat Boyle said the commission thinks the monument would be a great way to honor current and former officers.
“Law enforcement, over the last few years, because of all the different types of crime, and especially domestic-type crimes that have taken place in this county, have been under siege; not only domestic crimes, but drug crimes, and they’ve done a marvelous job,” Boyle said.
The design and location for the monument are yet to be finalized.
