PA State Police Await Autopsy Results to Identify Body Found in Mon River
The Uniontown detachment of the Pennsylvania State Police awaits autopsy result to identify the body found in the Monongahela River early Thursday afternoon.
According to the detachment’s public information officer, two men fishing by boat discovered the body about three miles north of the Point Marion area in Springhill Twp., Fayette County.
Police believe the body was carried there by natural currents. They are following up on recent missing person reports filed with agencies in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Morgantown man Fred McCauley, 62, was reported missing in February and is believed to have drowned in the Mon River. The Star City Police Department coordinated searches of the Monongahela River near the Star City boat ramp, where McCauley was last seen.
